The school of Ancient Language and Text Studies offers Ancient Cultures (AKLR) as a major from second-year level up to all postgraduate levels. In keeping with the philosophy and expertise of the school, the Ancient World is approached through its extant sources. The four semesters of AKLR offered by the school look, in turn, at mythology, art and literature, while the final semester consists of research methodology and research culminating in the production of a paper presented at our School's colloquium.
Ancient Cultures often forms a minor in several different Arts or Humanities courses. It is important to note that no Ancient Cultures' module at an undergraduate level has any prerequisites and may be taken as an elective even at a second or third year level to supplement another programme.
We offer courses on classical mythology, ancient art, and literature from very long ago.
